Top-seeded LSU (39-24) has advanced to Sunday’s regional championship game after another big win, this time over the No. 3 seed Southern Miss. The Tigers will face the winner of No. 2 Arizona State and No. 3 Southern Miss (39-20) at 8 p.m. CT tomorrow.
LSU’s starting pitcher Cole Henry posted 5 stellar innings, allowing 2 hits, no runs, while striking out six batters. “In my opinion, Cole Henry is going to be, if he’s not already, one of the best pitchers in the country,” said Paul Mainieri postgame.
The Tigers also got home runs from Cade Beloso and Zach Watson, while Saul Garza had another hot night at the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
Athens Regional Watch: Top-seeded Georgia lost to Florida State and will now face Florida Atlantic in an elimination game tomorrow at noon.
